A bridge between the Araya Peninsula to Margarita Island

 I've always believed that there should be a bridge between the Araya Peninsula to Margarita Island. The challenge was approaching it from my background in mathematics, given my lack of formal engineering training, and doing so without relying on commercial software that limits any real understanding of the physical phenomena behind a project of this magnitude.

Based on seafloor bathymetry details, my design choice for the model was to segment the structure into three sections using Coche Island as an intermediate support node, while also ensuring maritime navigational feasibility.

Instead of automating the process with tools that feel like black boxes to me, I dove into the numerical solution of differential equations using the implicit Newmark-beta integration algorithm. Ultimately, through phase-space analysis, I managed to prove something important: the torsional stability of the bridge deck under asymmetric vehicular loads, waves, and winds does not require over-engineering the concrete structure. Instead, it relies on intelligently optimizing the geometry of the support base.
